But having a modern aesthetic can be challenging at times. It is sometimes frustrating to walk through store after store seeing more traditional furniture options that just don't feel like us, and as a result, we often end up doing a lot of our shopping online. It also seems that furniture with modern lines is often considerably more expensive than its more traditional counterparts. Fortunately, I enjoy shopping {even the virtual kind} and I relish the challenge of finding the look I want for a price I am willing to pay.
We searched for several years before finally finding the perfect modern bar stools for our kitchen, but along the way I came across a lot of other stylish modern bar stool options from a variety of brick and mortar and online retailers. To help out others in a similar situation, I've compiled a list of 15 of my favorite modern bar stools, all under $200 {pictured below from lowest to highest price}!
For those who are drawn to modern lines and metallic finishes, you might just find your perfect bar stools on this list. Or maybe you have a more traditional style, but are looking to mix things up by adding a modern element to your kitchen or bar.

9> Gia Bar Stool from Target {multiple colors} $165.00 {
sold in sets of 2 for $329.99}
Despite being the most expensive of the options on the list, we finally selected the Vapor Bar Stools from CB2 for our kitchen. I did hold out for a big sale around the holidays, though, and even got free shipping! I couldn't be happier with our decision! These bar stools are not only uber sleek and stylish, they are also surprisingly comfortable and easy to keep clean!
We selected these bar stools in large part because we have black chairs elsewhere in the kitchen, and we really wanted the additional seating that bar stools offer without making the kitchen feel crowded. The Vapor stools take up almost no visual space!
Our boys are fascinated by these bar stools since they can see right through them, making them a favorite place to play!
Tomorrow the home tour, which I kicked off last week with a
tour of our second floor, continues, and I'll be showing you all around the kitchen with lots more photos of how these barstools fit in to the space.
Let's get social!
