{home tour} Come On In...Let Me Show You Our Second Level!

As you read this, I am on a plane bound for the Haven Conference! But while I'm headed for Atlanta, I wanted to invite you to a little open house here in Denver...

For months the "Home Tour" page of my blog has promised to be "coming soon"...so I thought it was about time I finally get my act together and show you around. Our house is spread over three floors and a finished basement, so I thought I'd break the tour down a bit, and I am starting today with the second level. All of the photos you see here are also being added to the Home Tour page {see the navigation bar at the top of the screen}, and eventually you'll be able to tour the entire house in that one location.

Alright, let's go... Here's the second level floor plan to help you get the lay of the land.

When you arrive at the top of the stairs, you find yourself in a big, open hallway.

These links will direct you to info about how we utilize the cute black and white cabinet, as well as details of the art throughout the hall:

The door to the right of the hall cabinet leads in to Cooper's nursery.

Click on these links for all of the nursery details, including the plan with source list and the organized closet:

A door in the corner of the nursery leads to a small bathroom with a nice sized shower. This bathroom also connects to the hallway, which will make it perfect for our boys to share.

More details about this bathroom, including how we are maximizing our storage, and how I changed the toiled tank lever to a playful silver shark, can be found at these links:

Exiting the bathroom, you find yourself back in the hallway. This is the view looking down the hall toward the other two bedrooms {this photo was taken when we first moved in, which is why the bedroom at the end of the hall looks empty}. The railing looks down on the first floor, and the large windows on the right are located directly above our front door.

As you walk down the hallway toward two more bedrooms, you pass the stairs leading to the third floor {where our master suite is located}. At the base of the stairs hangs a wedding photo that is framed by our vows.

Continuing down the hall, the bedroom on the right used to serve as our exercise room.

But the exercise equipment has since been relocated, and this bedroom now belongs to our older son, Beckett. We refer to this space as his "little gentleman's lounge."

This room is packed with DIY projects, and these links will lead you to more photos of the room and all of the DIY details:

At the end of the hall is a guest room with an ensuite bathroom. The design of the guest room was inspired by our honeymoon travels in Greece.

For all the details on the inspiration, and lots more photos of both the guest bedroom and bathroom, follow the links below. The bathtub in this bathroom is where we bath the boys, so the links will also guide you to the organizational system we use for bath tub toys that quickly converts when we have guests in town:

In the hall outside of the guest room are two sets of double doors. Behind one is our linen closet, and behind the other is our washer and dryer. Having a laundry closet instead of a laundry room is a bit of a bummer, but I've managed to make it function quite well by adding a DIY counter and shelves.

These links will direct you to the full laundry closet post, as well as the organization details of another closet located at the top of the second floor stairs:

Finally, as you continue down the hall back toward the stairs, you see this collection of photos along the wall. I realize now that I've never shared the details on these photos, so that post will be coming soon!

Thanks for joining me on this tour of our second level. Come back next week for a tour of the kitchen!
