Modern & Merry Christmas Home Tour

We started decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, and somewhere along the way we decided to rearrange the living room. The decorating is almost done, but the house is definitely in hot mess mode with fall decor piled on the stairs to be put away and boxes and bins waiting to be returned to the garage. I'll be taking more photos of our holiday decorations once I get everything cleaned up, but I get so excited about Christmas decor that I couldn't help but share some sneak peeks today!

Some of my favorite bloggers are also sharing Christmas Home Tours this week, and I've got links to those tours at the end of this post. We've joined together for a huge giveaway, as well! Enter below to be the lucky reader to win the $300 cash giveaway!

Let's start with the entry way, where I love filling my tall vases with winter greenery!

Looking to the left is the living room ... which is in a major state of flux as we continue rearranging the furniture trying to come up with the best configuration to make room for the piano that the boys are getting for Christmas {shhhh... that's a secret}.

I think the couch and coffee table are looking pretty good in their new spots, though.

On the way to the kitchen, you pass the powder room, where I couldn't help but add a little holiday cheer.

In the kitchen, I was so excited to unpack the cones that I painted for the center of the table a couple years ago! I still love this colorful centerpiece just as much as the day I made it!

After I put my DIY HO HO HO letters on my kitchen sideboard {and finished taking pictures in the ktichen}, I started looking for a way to decorate the shoe cabinet just around the corner from the kitchen. I haven't had any luck yet finding a piece of Christmas art that I like for this space, but I decided that I could embrace the black and white cactus art with the addition of a fun black and white striped tree. But it needed something else, so I ended up relocating the HO HO HO letters to this spot instead.

Moving the HO HO HO letters to the top of the shoe cabinet meant I needed to find a new way to style the kitchen sideboard. Fortunately, I have no shortage of DIY Christmas trees help to fill the space, along with my favorite ornament holder!

Looking toward the other end of the kitchen, we have a cozy little seating area in front of the fireplace. I love that these small, black chairs can swivel to face the table or the fireplace.

In the corner of the kitchen, we created a mudroom-like space by the back door, and it has become one of my favorite spots to decorate for the holidays!

We put our big Christmas tree down in the basement family room, where the color palette is very different from upstairs. Orange, white and gray may not be traditional Christmas colors, but I really love the way our felt and snowflake tree comes together each year.

Tomorrow I'll be showing you my non-traditional, but super fun orange and white mantel decor. But for now, let's head upstairs.

The last stop on the tour today is the open hallway right at the top of the stairs outside the boys' bedroom and bathroom.

I didn't buy much in the way of new Christmas decor this year, but I really fell in love with these colorful trees and tassel pillow {affiliate links} from Target, and I just couldn't pass them up. They really brighten up this hallway!

Finally, I put a collection of Christmas trees on the black and white striped cabinet. I love the pink tree, but I'm thinking this set up needs a few more bright colors. I'll probably pick up a bright red tree, and maybe another teal tree to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll definitely be sharing more photos of our Christmas decor as I get everything pulled together, and even more over on Instagram

In the spirit of the holidays, my bloggy-friends and I are giving away $300 to one lucky reader, so be sure to enter {because, who couldn't use a little extra shopping money?!}, and then continue on to enjoy lots more Christmas home tours!
