Welcome friends! It's Spring Home Tour day, and I'm joining a super talented group of bloggers, hosted by Carrie from
Lovely, Etc., to show you how we add brighten up our homes for the season. You'll find links to each and every tour at the end of this post, with inspiration for every style.
The house always feels a bit empty in January when we take down all the Christmas decorations, so I've been slowly adding in my pink and flowery spring decor for the past few months - and now I'm excited to show you around.
Let's start on the front porch, which got a cheerful "April Showers Bring May Flowers" inspired makeover last week. If you missed that post, you can see more photos of my
spring porch here, along with the quick and easy
tutorial for the umbrella wreaths.
Before Christmas, I picked up a chic acrylic trunk to hold all of the wrapped Christmas books that my boys open each night before bed leading up the holiday. After the Christmas books were all packed away for the year, my trunk was left sad and empty in the upstairs hall. I was on a mission to find a new way to use the trunk that would last us through the rest of the seasons, and it turned out to be the perfect place to display the magazines that I've been hoarding for years. And as a bonus, it now doubles as an end table in our living room.
Since taking that photo of the magazine trunk, I've been continuing to tweak the pillows on the couch to add more of a spring feel. I loved the pink watercolor rose pillow on the porch so much that I even ended up with another one on the couch!
More flowery pink pillows and some pink candles on the photo shelves brighten up the other side of the living room. And that acrylic tray on top of the books was a super simple 5 minute DIY project that only cost me $5!
We recently added a shallow shoe cabinet to the small wall that divides the living room from the kitchen. Not only does it provide great storage {for way more than just shoes - read about that here}, it also gives me one more space that I can decorate! Win/Win!
I'm loving all things cactus this year, and I put together this vignette with a framed cactus print from Hobby Lobby and three white ceramic cacti that I got a great deal on from At Home.
I got a new super wide angle camera lens for my birthday, and I had so much fun testing it out while taking photos of the spring decor in the kitchen. This is the first time I've been able to capture a photo that shows out dining table, our barstools, and the sitting area in front of our fireplace all in one shot! For any blog photographers out there - it's

Last year I came up with the idea to repurpose a bunch of Pellegrino bottles as vases down the center of our dining table. I loved it so much that I had to do it again this year. Our table is so long and thin that most centerpieces look undersized, but these bottles, filled with tall faux cherry blossoms, do a great job of filling the space and I love the pop of pink!
Earlier this week, I showed you how I created a simple and inexpensive tablescape perfect for hosting Easter brunch or any other spring celebration. If you missed it, be sure to check out
this post for my four tips for setting a beautiful table without spending a dime!
And to continue with the cactus-love, I couldn't help but pick up a few more to complete this space. The two green cacti are both from Hobby Lobby, and the white one from At Home.
I don't know if I've ever shown you my
boys' play kitchen {affiliate link}. It fits so perfectly between our back door and our fireplace, and it's almost an exact match to our real kitchen. It is one of their very favorite places to play, and having it right in the kitchen makes it so easy for me to keep an eye on them when I'm cooking dinner.
Even the little "mudroom" corner of our kitchen got a little spring makeover, thanks to a pretty collection of pillows that I pulled together. I've had all these pillows for years, but somehow never thought to group them together this way before, and I'm really loving it!
My mom got me that gorgeous new black and white striped bag for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I couldn't help but fill it with some pink flowers for the photos. I can't think of any space that doesn't benefit from some black and white stripes and a pop of pink!
