I am so excited to officially welcome spring! Warmer weather, longer days, and...pink!
The first signs of leaves and blossoms are just starting to appear in our yard... but spring has officially sprung on my front porch, thanks to my friends at
Hobby Lobby who are sponsoring my "April Showers Bring May Flowers" inspired front door decor.
I went shopping for craft supplies to create some sort of wreath or front door display, but I came out away with a whole lot more. I'm not going to lie...I tend to have that problem pretty much every time I walk in to Hobby Lobby. In the end, not only did my front doors get a makeover, the whole porch is sporting a cheery new spring vibe.
Before we get to the whole porch, though, let's start with the front door decor that I created. I originally envisioned making a wreath of some sort, but when I spotted an end cap full of brightly colored umbrellas, I immediately knew I needed to fill them with flowers!
You guys, turning umbrellas into "wreaths" could not be easier. I love a good 5 minute project... but this is more like a two minute project!
In order to keep the umbrellas upright while I filled them with flowers, I started by propping them up between the cushions of the couch.
I placed four bunches of pink tulips in each umbrella, as well as one bunch of pink mini flowers for a bit of extra height.
Finally, I added a ribbon about half way down each umbrella. I double-knotted the ribbon to hold it securely in place, then tied a simple bow. And that's it!
I hung my umbrella wreaths on my front doors using two large white Command hooks.
Our front doors are extra tall, making regular wreaths often look a bit small. But these bold and bright umbrella wreaths are just the perfect scale!
As you can see, I didn't stop at the doors! The lawn may still be brown, and the trees may not have leaves yet, but one look at our porch and you know that spring has officially arrived!
Our mailbox shouts "Mail!" and now our front door shouts a warm "Hello!" thanks to an adorable
turquoise doormat.
I'm always drawn to the unique furniture at
Hobby Lobby, and these white metal plant stands were one of the first things I spotted when I walked through the doors of the store a couple of weeks ago. I knew I wanted to use them on the porch, but since things always work better in threes, I decided to add this cute white metal chair to complete the grouping {the chair is also from Hobby Lobby, as is the pretty
watercolor rose pillow}.
I filled my glass flower pot with a collection of silk flowers left over from a variety of past projects. As the weather gets warmer, I'll probably swap them out for real flowers, but for now, the faux version have a better chance of surviving the unpredictable Colorado spring weather. And I couldn't pass up the pink chalkboard easel, which I'll be able to use over and over again.
There's one last thing I have to show you, because sometimes it's the little details that bring a whole space together! The stone planter boxes on either side of our front stairs look pretty sad this time of year. As I was walking through the floral aisles of Hobby Lobby, a variety of green grass spheres and boxwood spheres caught my eye. I realized I could simply sit a few of each size inside the planter boxes to fake the look of spring until things start growing for real.
Just that little pop of spring green in the planter boxes makes such a big difference, don't you think?!
