I recently partnered with Cost Plus World Market to create a colorful and festive Dia de los Muertos inspired look for our front porch. Today I'm over on their blog sharing all the photos, along with four tips to help you capture the festive spirit of this joyful holiday!
Although it often gets associated with Halloween, Dia de los Muertos {celebrated on November 1st and 2nd} is a unique holiday all its own. Two popular symbols of Dia de los Muertos are calacas and calaveras {skeletons and skulls}, but Dia de los Muertos is far from a day of mourning. Rather, it is a joyful, laughter-filled tribute to the memory of family and friends that have passed away.
It is exactly that celebratory spirit that I tried to capture on my front porch by using vibrant colors and a variety of items from Cost Plus World Market's
Los Muertos Collection combined with a couple of simple DIYs. If you follow me on
Instagram, then you caught a glimpse of one of those DIY's a few weeks ago...
